Quilt Appraisals

Appraisals of contemporary, antique and vintage quilts will be available during show hours. Appraiser Bonnie Dwyer will schedule appointments, take walk-ins and appraise quilts hanging in the show.

The fee for a written appraisal is $45.To schedule an appointment contact Bonnie. If you’re entering a quilt at Maine Quilts and would like to have it appraised while it hangs in the show, please indicate your wish to have an appraisal on the Quilt Entry Form and enclose payment with your entry.

Bonnie has been a “fabric fanatic” since age 9, when her mother taught her to sew on a treadle machine. She was bitten by the quilting bug in the ’80’s and the appraisal bug in the ’90’s. Bonnie belongs to Backroad Quilters, Loose Threads Quilters, Art Quilts Maine and the American Quilt Study Group. She has been appraising quilts for eleven years and is certified by the American Quilter’s Society.

Demonstrations

Chaired by Sondra Taylor

Several different demonstrations are offered free on Friday and Saturday. Demonstrations last 30-45 minutes and are a great way to learn something new.

The demonstration schedule will be posted on our web site in June.

Demonstrators are needed! If you have a special technique, skill, tool or pattern you’d like to share with others, please contact Sondra.

PTQG Members’ Sales Table

Chaired by Anne Baker and Cindy Heyse-David

PTQG members sell small quilts and other articles made from fabric at this table. In the past, there have been pin cushions, tote bags, pot holders, cloth books, small wall hangings and pins. Due to limited space, the quilts are no larger than 36 ” x 36 ”. All items are made by the PTQG members and quilt related.

Members interested in selling items at the table must contact Anne or Cindy by July 1st.

Silent Auction

Chaired by Pat Libby

Pine Tree Quilters Guild, Inc. and Maine Quilts 2010 are proud to support the Maine Coalition to End Domestic Violence with the donation of all proceeds from this year’s Silent Auction.

The mission of the Maine Coalition to End Domestic Violence is to create and encourage a social, political, and economic environment in which domestic violence no longer exists, and to ensure that all people affected by domestic abuse and violence are supported and that batterers are held accountable. MCEDV mobilizes and coordinates community action through a statewide network of domestic violence projects. Through these partnerships, they focus their resources on public policy, education and systems advocacy. To learn more, visit their web site: www.mcedv.org.

We can’t raise money for this important cause without items to bid on. So, please make a table runner, wall hanging, tote bag, purse or other quilted item. Items can be any design, done by an individual or a group. The only restriction is size; the maximum is a perimeter of 144”. Please include a label with the maker’s name and town; wall hangings should include a way to hang. All donations should be sent to Pat Libby by July 1st.

Raffle Alley

Chaired by Ruth Alexander

In the main lobby, PTQG Chapters and members will be selling chances on their raffle quilts.
