Booth Hop

sponsored by

New this year is a booth hop; 12 of the merchants will offer kits for a 12" quilt block featuring "Cheep Housing" by Diane Knott. Pick up your “passport” in the main lobby, have it punched at all of the participating booths and be entered in a drawing for 300 fat quarters. At each booth, you’ll want to be sure and view their finished version of the special quilt. Each booth will sell finishing kits for their quilt as well as the $6 block kits.

Demonstrations

Chaired by Karen Keeler

Several different demonstrations are offered free each day. Demonstrations last 30-45 minutes and are a great way to learn something new or share your knowledge. Demonstrators are needed! If you have a special technique, skill, tool or pattern you’d like to share with others, please contact Karen.

PTQG Members’ Sales Table

Chaired by Anne Baker and Cindy Heyse-David

PTQG members sell their own quilt items at this table. In the past, items have included pin cushions, tote bags, pot holders, cloth books, small wall hangings and pins. Due to limited space, the items are no larger than 45” x 48”. Items are made of fabric by the PTQG members and quilt related. Members who submit items to sell must also volunteer at the table. Members interested in selling items at this table must contact Anne or Cindy by July 1 .

Quilt Appraisals

Appraisals of antique, vintage and contemporary quilts will be available during the show. Appraiser Bonnie Dwyer will schedule appointments, take walk-ins and appraise quilts hanging in the show.

The fee for a written appraisal is $45.To schedule an appointment, contact Bonnie. If you’re entering a quilt at Maine Quilts and would like to have it appraised while it hangs in the show, please indicate that on the QUILT ENTRY FORM and enclose payment with your entry.

Bonnie Dwyer has been a “fabric fanatic” since age 9, when her mother taught her to sew on a treadle machine. She was bitten by the quilting bug in the ’80’s and the appraisal bug in the ’90’s. Bonnie belongs to Loose Threads Quilters, Art Quilts Maine and the American Quilt Study Group. She has been appraising quilts for nine years and is certified by the American Quilter’s Society.

Raffle Alley

Chaired by Ruth Alexander

In the main lobby PTQG chapters and members will be selling chances on their raffle quilts. Information and applications for displaying raffle quilts at Maine Quilts 2008 will be given to chapter contacts at the January Members’ Meeting. Individual PTQG members interested in displaying a raffle quilt should contact Ruth Alexander, 207-865-4740, for an application.

Silent Auction

Chaired by Pat Libby

Pine Tree Quilters Guild, Inc. and Maine Quilts 2008 are proud to support WomenHeart of Maine with the donation of all proceeds from this year’s Silent Auction. The mission of this organization is “to improve the quality of life and healthcare for women living with heart disease, and to advocate for their benefit”. Heart disease is the #1 killer of women – early detection, accurate diagnosis and proper treatment are important. WomenHeart provides information, support and advocacy along with lots of hugs and encouragement. To learn more, visit their web site: www.womenheart.org.

We can’t raise money for this important cause without items to bid on. So, please make a table runner, wall hanging, tote bag, purse or other quilted item. Items can be any design, done by an individual or a group. The only restriction is size; the maximum is a perimeter of 144”. Please include a label with the maker’s name and town; wall hangings should include a way to hang. All donations should be sent to Pat Libby by July 1.
