Quilt Categories and Terms

Categories

A quilt can be entered in only one category, please read the following information carefully to help with your decision. It is your choice which category to enter the quilt in. Each quilt in the Judged Division is judged on its own merits according to the point system outlined, so the category in which it is entered does not affect whether it wins a ribbon or not.

LARGE BED QUILTS (280” perimeter or larger) Designed to be used as a bed covering.

SMALL BED QUILTS (Smaller than 280” perimeter) Designed to be used as a bed covering or throw. Crib quilts, lap quilts, quilts for youth beds and other small bed quilts are included in this category.

WALL HANGINGS / WALL QUILTS (Any size over minimum 96” perimeter) Designed to be hung for decorative purposes.

MINIATURE QUILTS (Any size under maximum 125” perimeter) Includes fabric postcards.

ADULT BEGINNER The 1 st, 2 nd or 3 rd completed project for the entrant. This category includes young adults ages 15-17.

YOUTH QUILTS Made by children age 14 and under, either individually or as a group.

GROUP QUILTS Quilt completed by three or more people; includes round robin quilts, quilts made from block swaps or block drawings.
