Raffle Quilt
"Classic Jacobean"

The Maine Quilts 2008 raffle quilt was made by twenty-one members of Classic Quilters, a PTQG chapter in the Lewiston/Auburn area. It won a 2nd place ribbon at Maine Quilts 2007.
This 88” x 104” quilt displays twenty different colorful floral blocks on a white background using Patricia Campbell's patterns with her permission. The border is a vine of colorful flowers accented with a dark red frame. This quilt was hand appliquéd using the needle-turn technique. The creation of this quilt was truly a group effort. Some of the fabric came from the late Kay Wheeler’s collection, donated by her husband. Some of the group had never appliquéd before so there were Saturday potluck lunches with appliqué classes. What fun Classic Quilters had and their efforts produced a spectacular quilt which was exquisitely machine quilted by Dianne Hodgkins of Bangor, Maine.
Tickets for this quilt were distributed to chapters at the January Members’ Meeting and mailed to floaters. Tickets can be purchased from any PTQG member or by contacting Ruth at 207-865-4740. The winner will be drawn at Maine Quilts on Sunday, July 27 at 3 p.m.
