Raffle Quilt
“Snips & Trails & Bright Colored Tails”
“Snips & Snails & Bright Colored Trails” is a vibrant queen-sized quilt made by Clamshell Quilters of Damariscotta using bright and jewel tone colored 100% cotton fabric. They were inspired by Gail de Marcken’s contemporary interpretation of “Snail’s Trail” in Quilts from the Quiltmaker’s Gift by Joanne Larsen Line and Nancy Loving Tubesing.
After the pattern was selected, the committee obtained permission, worked on a color scheme and developed a timeline. Fabric shopping for the bold and brilliant colors was first on the agenda. A focal fabric was found and used to select all the other fabrics. Committee members then participated in many sew-in workshops to paper piece the snail’s trail blocks. Maia Hart, a Clamshell member, professionally machine quilted the quilt which was displayed for the first time at the September 2011 Members’ Meeting.
Tickets are $1 or six for $5. Tickets can be purchased from PTQG members and at the show. The drawing will be held at 3:45 p.m. on Sunday, July 29. 2012.
