Highlights of Maine Quilts 2009

Volunteer Opportunities

Set Up on Wednesday and Thursday

  • U-Haul
    • Driver: pick up 14’ U-Haul truck and drive to storage unit then to Augusta Civic Center. No special license required.
    • Load quilt frames, cross bars and other items from storage unit into truck on Wednesday. Some moderate lifting involved.
  • Organize Quilts: sort quilts by division, category and number; place cross bars, hooks and loops in rows.
  • Hang Quilts: work in teams to hang quilts following layout diagram and chairperson’s instructions.
  • Hang Special Exhibits: work in teams to hang traveling exhibits, Silent Auction, Blueberry Fields Forever, Meet the Quilter, Antique Quilts following layout diagram and chairperson’s instructions.
  • Set Up Various Areas: hang signs, deliver materials to classrooms, set up Quilters’ Walk and other duties as needed.

Take Down Sunday

  • Quilt Take Down: 20-30 people needed to take quilts down and then assist with quilt pick up; great opportunity to see the quilts up close and personal!
  • Show Take Down: collect materials from around building and pack up.
  • U-Haul
    • Driver: pick up 14’ U-Haul truck drive to to Augusta Civic Center then to storage unit. No special license required.
    • Unload quilt frames, cross bars and other items from truck into storage unit. Some moderate lifting involved.

To volunteer, please complete the Volunteer Sign Up form. You can complete the form on-line but must print and mail it to Sharon. You will need the free software, Adobe Reader to open the form.

You will receive confirmation postcards in early July listing your volunteer date(s), time and activity.
You must bring these postcards to the show to receive your free admission.
